The LYFA is now operating in full swing with both male and female academy teams actively participating in regional leagues.
The just ended Easter weekend was action packed with the academy being represented in different locations in varying football categories.
The U20 men’s team participating in LIDAFA (Livingstone District Amateur Football Association) competition was playing away on Sunday afternoon against a formidable Chundu Stars side. The LYFA lads were defeated 3-1 in this their second league encounter. The coaching staff are however working on strengthening the team and doing better in their future games. Their next league game is on Wednesday 24 April 2019.
The U15 ladies team also had an action packed weekend with a game against South Lands on Saturday. It was a tense match that nearly ended in a draw but for a superb free kick that was the only goal of the match; giving LYFA the 3 points. The U15 girls had another fixture against Young Rangers on Monday. It was an impressive game for our girls as they won the match with a 3-1 full time score.
The men’s team had traveled away to Choma to face off with Musanza Police FC. It was a tight game that saw our first choice goalie getting injured and being taken out of the match. After a goal less first half, the game dragged out and ended in a 2-1 scoreline with LYFA walking away victorious. The LYFA men’s team is currently top of the table and is leading the runners up with a 4 point margin.
