The Tackle Africa campaign is in full swing following the conclusion of the coach training.
The coach training was a week long intensive training program which involved LYFA players and coaches being equipped with skills and knowledge needed to sensitize pupils on sexual health through fun and interactive soccer drills with embedded messages.
Now that the training has concluded, the trained coaches will be deployed into local schools where they will teach pupils about sexual health, HIV and unplanned pregnancies through soccer drills with embedded messages.
The sensitization program will start on Monday and carry on for 10 weeks after which an inter-school Tackle Africa tournament will be held to assess the results of the whole program.
Pitch side counselling and HIV testing will be conducted during the tournament. The tournament also provides a safe-space for various youths to start a dialogue and learn about their sexual health which is a topic culturally avoided in local communities.
