2018 ON A SHELF
FROM THE CHAIRMAN’S DESK
As we have come to the close of the 2018 soccer season, it is imperative to table the successes of the Academy throughout the footballing the season. The academy had a very positive atmosphere with the warm partnership and sponsorship of the ATD Foundation.
Being one year old as an academy after the official registration as a charity (guarantee) with PACRA in 2017, a number of activities were lined up in both the football circles and community interactive:
Africa Code Week – the academy invited girls from the community to introduce, educate and empower them with the modern technology by introducing them to the computer literacy.
Independence cup – five of our players and the coach were selected to play in the Livingstone select against Hwange select (Zimbabwe) and won the trophy.
Girls’ tournament – LYFA girls participated in the eight team pre-season tournament and won the trophy
Tackle Africa program – a very successful arrangement carried out in the local communities sensitizing and educating the youths on sexual health matters using the ball (football).
End of year party – a come together opportunity where deserving players from all academy categories received awards and were presented by the ATD Foundation Chairman.
Academy Bus procurement – the academy received the bus from ATD Foundation that will cushion the heavy transport expenses for travelling to away games by all academy teams.
I salute and congratulate the management, staff, players and the community for the outstanding efforts and support exhibited throughout this tour of duty.
Looking forward to another progressive and interactive year, 2019 Evans Muyunda – Founder/Chairman
